Staff Kevin Wilson - Senior Pastor
We welcomed Reverend Kevin Wilson to First United Methodist Church of Red Oak on February 1, 2023. Kevin has been serving as Pastor of FUMC Palmer and Bristol UMC for the past 5 years. He is a lifelong United Methodist and grew up in Ohio, before moving to Arlington in 1988. He graduated from The Ohio State University (B.S.B.A., Statistics), UTA (B.B.A., Marketing) and Brite Divinity School – TCU (Master of Divinity, Pastoral Care). Prior to his appointment to Palmer/Bristol, he served as Associate Pastor at 1st UMC Arlington, Pastor at 1st UMC Meridian, Associate Pastor at 1st UMC Waxahachie, and Youth Pastor at Keller UMC. While he was a seminary student, he was an Intern Pastor at Epworth UMC in Arlington and an Intern Chaplain at Parkland Hospital in Dallas. He and his wife, Cheryl, have been married since 2007. They enjoy the blessing of six nieces and are enthusiastic fans of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. Cheryl grew up in Waxahachie, graduated from Waxahachie High School, and works at the Ellis County District Clerk’s office in Waxahachie. Kevin has participated in many mission trips through CTCYM, PUMP, and an international trip to Honduras. He also enjoys snacking on M&M’s, decorating for Christmas, cheering on anything relating to The Ohio State University, and knows that ice cream can make any event even better. Kevin believes, “It is through God’s call on our lives that we journey together to further understand and develop our relationship with God and each other. We are thankful for the welcome and support this congregation provides and ask for your continued prayers. Through God we can surpass our own expectations.” |
Larry McCord-Music Minister
Larry McCord grew up in Oak Cliff and Duncanville and earned his music degrees at UT Arlington and SMU, followed by doctoral study at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and UT Austin. He has served as a full-time professor of music at three Texas colleges, including his current position at Hill College in Hillsboro. Throughout his college teaching career, Larry has been active as an accompanist and freelance pianist and has either served as musical director or production pianist for numerous musical theater performances. He has also remained active in church music, serving as Director of Music at Whitehouse UMC, China Spring UMC and St. Marks UMC in Mesquite before beginning his ministry at FUMC Red Oak in 2014. Larry grew up in the UMC, his father serving as a choir director and worship leader and his mother playing organ and serving as church secretary. He has two grown daughters, Katherine and Michaela, who are his pride and joy. Larry and his wife, Susan, were married between services at FUMC Red Oak in July 2018 and are pleased to call Red Oak their home. | Jo Wilsford- Administrative Assistant
Jo Wilsford has been a member of the Red Oak First United Methodist Church since 1978 and the Administrative Assistant/Financial Secretary of the church since November 2018. In that position, among many other duties, she sends out newsletters and emails to keep the church family up to date on church activities and completes the financial tasks needed to support the church’s ministries. Jo worked for 37 years as a high school English teacher and Executive Director of Professional Development for the Dallas Independent School District before she retired in 2008; she was a Stephen Covey training consultant for several years following her retirement. “Ms. Jo” loves her church and has always been very involved in church activities: singing in the choir, leading the UMW Friendship Circle, “directing” the Angel Choir, and working on various ministry teams. She is presently the Lay Leader and a Stephen Minister. Jo has been married to her husband, Byrum, for almost 50 years; they have two daughters. Amy and her husband Jeff are both high school teachers; Jennifer and her husband Todd are both Methodist pastors. Family time is very important to Jo and Byrum, and they spend as much time as possible with their grandchildren, Andrew, Olivia, and Alex. | Judy Cadenhead- Building Manager
Judy Cadenhead is in charge of taking care of the building. She has been with the church for over 20 years. Judy's first love is children. She is responsible for keeping the building clean and the yard kept. She is also behind the scenes opening the building 6 days a week and helping the many ministries and activities of the church run smoothly and effectively. Judy went on her Walk to Emmaus in 1998. She has encouraged many people to experience this faith walk. She is also a Stephen Minister. You usually see Judy helping out with different children's activities from Vacation Bible School, to Advent Event and the Easter Egg Hunt. Judy grew up in Pennsylvania and came to Texas in 1981. She has two sons, Robert & Jason, a daughter, Mary, a daughter-in-law, Tiffany (Jason's wife), a granddaughter, Kaylee, and two grandsons, Braylon and Carson. |
William Muentes - Pianist
William Muentes is an accomplished pianist, vocalist and arranger. He has extensive experience accompanying choirs, small ensembles and soloists. He has been the accompanist for the Cedar Valley College Vocal Ensemble and for the DeSoto ISD choirs. Soloists have included singers and instrumentalists from amateurs to professionals. William has also sung at the Meyerson Symphony Center and the Winspear Opera House in Dallas, Texas. He has arranged music from hymns to jazz for soloists and ensembles as well. William Muentes graduated from Cedar Valley College receiving the AAS Degree in Recording Technology, AAS Degree in Music Performance, AAS Degree in Music Retailing and the AAS Degree in Music Arranging, Composing and Copying. From Cedar Valley College, William went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (BAAS) Degree in Applied Technology and Performance Improvement with an Occupational Specialization in Music. | Anthony McKnight - Director of Student Ministries
Anthony started his role as Director of Student Ministries on September 1, 2023. He grew up attending FUMCRO and graduated from Red Oak High School in 2015. Anthony was involved with the A/V team and Worship team before he moved to Cedar Park/Leander to pursue youth ministry at Rockbridge UMC and Good News Church. Anthony felt his call to youth ministry on a trip to Iona Scotland in 2017 and has faithfully followed that call since. He is attending Western Governor’s University pursuing a degree in Business management and plans to graduate in October 2023. In his free time Anthony enjoys playing video games and collecting Board games. |
